Wolf Armor and Storage Legacy

Wolf Armor and Storage is a Minecraft modification that significantly expands the capabilities of tamed wolves by adding armor, storage systems, and other useful features.

Many players have faced the problem of vanilla wolves' fragility in the game. Left unattended or taken on dangerous adventures, they quickly perish. This mod solves this problem by turning your fluffy friends into true battle companions!

Armor for Faithful Companions

The mod adds five types of armor for wolves, corresponding to the standard player armor types in Minecraft. Armor can be found in loot chests or crafted on a workbench.

Crafting Armor

To craft armor, you'll need three pieces of standard armor (two pairs of boots and one helmet) and additional materials (leather, iron nuggets, iron ingots, gold ingots, or diamonds). Arrange the components as follows:

Gold armor recipe Fig. 2d: Gold armor recipe

Equipping and Using Armor

When a wolf is equipped with armor, it receives the same protection as a player wearing a full set of armor made from the corresponding material. To put armor on a wolf, simply right-click it while holding the desired armor item, or crouch and click with any item to open the wolf's interface.

Armor can also be equipped using a dispenser! However, the wolf must be tamed beforehand.

Dyeing Leather Armor

Like regular leather armor, leather armor for wolves can be dyed any color:

Pack Wolves with Storage System

The second important feature of the mod is the ability to equip a chest on a tamed wolf, providing it with useful storage space!

An additional benefit is that if you fill this inventory with the wolf's favorite food, it can automatically restore health right during travels!

To equip a chest, simply right-click a tamed wolf with any wooden chest. To remove the chest, click the "Remove Chest" button in the wolf's interface.

Chest size is configurable from 1 to 15 slots, and the feature itself can be completely disabled. Automatic wolf healing can also be disabled in settings.

Statistics Display

Starting from version 3.6.4, there's an option to display wolf statistics above their heads, right under their names! The feature works even for wolves without names!

This option is disabled by default. To enable it, open the configuration file and set B:stats_in_nameplate to true.

Hunger System for Wolves

As a balancing option, you can enable a hunger system for wolves! The current hunger level is displayed in the interface and above the wolf's head (if the corresponding options are enabled).

Hunger and saturation effects now also affect wolves with the hunger system enabled, so be careful when fighting husks!

If hunger is set to "full" mode, the wolf can take damage from starvation until it reaches 4 hearts (wild wolf health level). By setting "starvation" to "true", you can allow wolves to die from hunger.

Additional Features

The mod also includes several other new features.

First, achievements! Two new achievements have been added to the "Husbandry" category: "Armor Up!", for equipping wolves with armor, and "Wolf Pack", for giving a wolf storage space.

Wild wolves can howl at the full moon. This makes them easier to find during full moon. This feature can be enabled or disabled as desired (disabled by default).

Wolf Armor is generally compatible with any mods that don't have their own mixins for EntityWolf, and potentially with some that do. If you discover incompatibility with a specific mod, report it.
