Wireless Redstone

Wireless Redstone

This mod introduces a wireless redstone signal transmission system to Minecraft, allowing you to control mechanisms remotely without the need to lay wires. The operating principle resembles transmitters and receivers in the real world.

Main Features

Transmitter and receiver blocks operate with lazy loading relative to redstone updates in unloaded chunks. This means that unloaded chunks won't be actively loaded for redstone signal updates, but once the receiver loads, its state automatically synchronizes with the corresponding transmitter.

New addition:

  • P2P transmitters and receivers, added in version 1.2.0

Currently, wireless redstone works within a single dimension, but this may change in future updates.

Redstone Transmitter and Receiver

Redstone Transmitter sends a signal to the wireless network when activated by a redstone signal and sets all receivers on the same frequency to active state. If multiple transmitters operate on the same frequency, all receivers on that frequency remain active as long as at least one transmitter is on. Frequency can be configured by right-clicking the block.

Redstone Receiver outputs a signal strength of 15 as long as at least one transmitter on the same frequency is active. Frequency is also configured via right-click.

P2P Transmitter and Receiver

In addition to the classic frequency-based system, P2P transmitters and receivers are now available. Instead of connecting via frequency, they are directly linked using the Linker, hence the name P2P (point-to-point). This eliminates frequency conflicts with other players but allows connecting only one transmitter to one receiver.

These blocks have two states:

  • powered: indicates whether the block is being powered (transmitter) or powers something (receiver)
  • linked: indicates if the block is linked with its partner. This property can be checked with a comparator, which outputs signal strength 15 when linked and 0 when not.

After establishing a link between a transmitter-receiver pair, the linked property changes accordingly, and redstone changes on the transmitter are reflected on the connected receiver. If one block is destroyed or reconnected to another block, its partner's link is terminated.

Unique feature of the linked property: when a linked P2P block unloads, it visually disconnects from its partner. The redstone state is preserved, and the actual connection between them remains and restores when both blocks load again. If the other block is destroyed or reconnected during this time, the block completely breaks the connection when trying to reconnect (both must be loaded for this). This behavior can be used to detect loaded or unloaded chunks.

Remote

Remote off/on

Remote is the item version of the transmitter. While holding right-click, the remote signal becomes active. Additionally, you can copy the frequency of a transmitter or receiver by sneaking and right-clicking it. By sneaking and right-clicking the remote itself (not on a block), you can set the frequency through the interface.

Frequency Tool

Frequency Tool

Frequency Tool is a convenient tool for copying frequencies and setting multiple transmitters and/or receivers to the same frequency. While holding it, you can copy a frequency by sneaking and right-clicking a transmitter or receiver. To apply the saved frequency, simply right-click a transmitter or receiver. By sneaking and right-clicking the tool itself, you can set the frequency through the interface.

Frequency Sniffer

Frequency Sniffer

Frequency Sniffer is used to find active transmitters on a given frequency. Like other frequency tools, the frequency can be set manually through the interface or copied from a transmitter/receiver. When right-clicking with the sniffer, all active transmitters on the set frequency within range are highlighted with a wireframe around the block. A chat message also appears with coordinates of all active transmitters. Administrators can click on coordinates to teleport. Highlight color can be changed in settings!

Linker

Linker

Linker is used to connect a P2P transmitter and a P2P receiver. By sneaking and right-clicking a block, you select it for linking. The selected block is highlighted and visible through other blocks, its position also displays in the Linker item's tooltip. Highlight color can be configured. To complete the linking, simply right-click the partner block.

Circuit

Circuit

Circuit is used for crafting purposes only.

Interfaces

Note: If you press Shift in the frequency interface, all values for changing frequency are multiplied by 100 (you can add/subtract 100 and 1000) or you can simply enter the desired frequency manually. The color of frequency display on receiver/transmitter can be changed in settings. The same applies to frequency sniffer highlighting!

Version and Loader Compatibility

Generally, Wireless Redstone should always be compatible between mod loaders. This means you can start a world with Forge and later switch to Fabric, and everything should continue working with Wireless Redstone. The same applies to Minecraft versions. Newer versions of Minecraft and the mod should always be backward compatible with older ones. However, always make a backup of your world before switching loaders or versions.
