Wandering Trader Improvements

This mod transforms the Wandering Trader mob that many players consider more of an annoyance than a useful character.

Spawning Changes

Wandering Traders now appear much more frequently and predictably in villages.

Revamped Trading System

Many items that were too common and didn't match biome specificity have been removed from the trade list. The full list of excluded goods includes: glowstone, fern, pumpkin, dandelion, poppy, wheat seeds, all dyes, vines, brown and red mushrooms, sand, and gunpowder.

In return, numerous biome-oriented items previously unavailable from traders have been added. The inventory now includes goods from dungeons and various structures, as well as mighty potions - enhanced versions of standard potions from vanilla gameplay and several popular mods. The updated list includes: sunflower, lilac, rose bush, peony, cocoa beans, bamboo, sweet berries, carrot, potato, wither rose, mycelium, sponge, enchanted book with random valuable enchantments, enchanted golden apple, turtle egg, bee nest with three bees, and mighty potions.

Hidden Danger: Illusioners

However, not everything is positive - the Wandering Trader might turn out to be a disguised Illusioner! This hostile mob attacks the player as soon as they attempt to attack or trade with it, presenting a serious challenge. Defeating the Illusioner rewards a special item - the Totem of Decoy. Its activation creates an exact copy of the player that attracts enemies while making the actual player invisible for a short time.

Development Prospects

Despite significantly improving trade quality, there remains enormous potential for further enhancements to the Wandering Trader. Development plans include implementing a tier system for traders, similar to villager progression, allowing players to unlock increasingly profitable deals through repeat visits. Another promising possibility involves acquiring the trader's llama for emeralds instead of losing them when killing their owner, which previously deprived players of this option. Of course, there's also work planned to improve the combat experience with Illusioners and refine the rewards for defeating them.
