Things Need A Tool

This Minecraft datapack fixes a game oversight regarding many blocks that previously didn't require a specific tool for efficient mining. It adds proper tool assignments to materials where developers hadn't implemented this feature.

Main Function

The collection groups the most commonly used blocks that lacked proper tool categories, assigning them to appropriate tool groups. You won't waste precious minutes breaking materials with the wrong tool anymore, and the "Efficiency" enchantment will now work on blocks from new categories, significantly speeding up their gathering process.

Mining System Changes

Pickaxe Assignment

The following blocks are now efficiently mined with a pickaxe:

• tinted and regular glass
• all variants of stained glass
• glass panes
• beacon
• glowstone
• sea lantern
• redstone lantern
• reinforced deepslate

Hoe Assignment

These materials are handled by a hoe:

• all types of froglights (pearlescent, ochre, verdant)
• cactus

Axe Assignment

Proper axe category includes:

• all skull types (skeleton, wither skeleton, zombie, player, creeper, dragon, piglin)
• wall-mounted variants of all skulls
• honeycomb block
