The Pickle Mod - 1.12.2
Long ago, during the time of Minecraft 1.7.10, I created a mod centered around pickles. It was a simple project for a simpler era that helped me learn the basics of Minecraft modding. Now, in the age of version 1.12.2, my children heard the legends about the miraculous properties of cucumbers and their effects on the inhabitants of the game world. So they asked me to once again summon the power of pickles.
The Pickle Mod has been completely updated for version 1.12.2, and during the development process I studied all the changes that have occurred since 1.7.10.
Main Features and Capabilities
The mod introduces a new agricultural crop - cucumbers, whose seeds can be found by breaking tall grass. The world also generates salt blocks that appear at high elevations and are registered in the ore dictionary.
New food items include fresh cucumbers that restore half a heart but provide good saturation, and pickled cucumbers that heal two hearts but reduce saturation levels.
Salt mined from salt blocks can be placed on the ground similarly to redstone. Wheat can be processed into flour, though its purpose is currently undefined.
One of the most interesting features is the altered behavior of hostile mobs. The undead and creepers fear salt and will not cross lines made of it on the ground - instead they run away, allowing for effective base protection.
The arsenal now includes unique weapons: a pickle sword. Despite its low durability, it instantly kills creepers and endermen at the cost of significant durability loss, deals 4 damage points to zombies and skeletons without durability reduction, and is ineffective against other mobs but still wears down.
Homemade explosive devices are also available: if you charge a cucumber with redstone, you get a pickle bomb that, when thrown, deals significant area damage to endermen, creepers, and the undead.
