The Cryptid
![]()
The Cryptid mod introduces a new terrifying entity to Minecraft that will stalk you throughout your world, intensifying the feeling of paranoia. Every sound now raises the question: is it just the environment or is something terrifying lurking nearby?
Requires GeckoLib installation
Important: The volume of music and jumpscare sounds can be adjusted in the game settings through the "Jukebox/Note Block" parameter.
How The Cryptid Works

After appearing, the entity demonstrates diverse behavior: it may pace back and forth while watching the player, stalk from a distance, or simply observe from hiding.

If the entity is ignored for too long, it may disappear, become angry and chase the nearest player, activate a random event, or change its behavior pattern.

When looked at directly, there's a chance the entity will disappear or trigger a random event.
During attacks, the entity has a certain chance to grab the player and even throw them.

When the entity is nearby, various sounds can be heard: claw scraping, twig snapping. However, these sounds don't always come directly from the entity - they can occur randomly, making it difficult to determine their source. The same applies to new ambient sounds.
Initially, the entity's goal is not to kill but to intimidate the player. Over time, its aggression increases, and it becomes more inclined to kill. After successfully killing a player, the entity returns to its original intimidation tactics.
Configuration Settings
To edit the configuration, go to your Minecraft game folder, then to the "config" folder where the settings file is located. You can edit it using Notepad, Notepad++, or any other text editor.
An alternative option is to install the Configured mod, which allows you to open the settings menu through the "mods" tab in the pause menu.
