Thaumcraft
Thaumaturgy is the ability of a magician to perform miracles. A practitioner of thaumaturgy is called a thaumaturge, thaumaturgist, or miracle worker.
This is exactly what this mod is dedicated to — extracting magic from physical objects in the form of Essentia and transforming it to perform miracles.
Starting the Journey
The first thing you'll need to create is a magic wand. The simplest one available at the start is the Iron Capped Wooden Wand, crafted as follows (using a stick and iron nuggets):
After creating the wand, place a bookshelf in the world and right-click on it with the wand in hand. This will give you the Thaumonomicon — a book that explains almost everything you need to know about Thaumcraft.
Compatibility and Add-ons
There are mods that use the API or other means to integrate with Thaumcraft or add new content. It's important to note that they do so without disrupting the balance of the main mod.
For add-on creators, there are several recommendations:
- Don't overdo adding new aspects. If you think it's necessary, contact the author
- Try not to add more than one research tab
- Place your research on your own tab
- Don't move the author's original research
- Don't modify the main mod's recipes
Modifications
The code of Thaumcraft for Minecraft in source or binary form is the intellectual property of Azanor.
To include the mod in modpacks, five conditions must be met:
- The modpack must contain a link to the original forum post
- It is forbidden to profit from the modpack
- You cannot claim that you created any part of the mod, you must credit Azanor as the author
- If the author requests removal of the mod from the pack — comply
- Handle requests and bug reports within the modpack first
