TFC Farming - Soil Nutrition System

This addon revives the soil nutrient mechanics from the classic TFC 1.7.10 version, but with important changes and improvements. Each crop has preferences for a specific nutrient element - nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), or potassium (K). You can learn a plant's favorite element by holding Shift while viewing the tooltip of its seeds.

When the player reaches the "Adept" skill level in agriculture, they can crouch while holding a hoe and look at a block to see the current nutrient values in that specific soil.

Core Mechanics

Each crop completely consumes its favorite nutrient element from the soil during growth from 0% to full maturity.

Farmland naturally regenerates about 3.14% of each nutrient every TFC month. This means full recovery from 0% to 100% takes 32 in-game months.

If a plot of land has a crop growing that uses a specific nutrient element (for example, N), that particular element will not regenerate on that plot.

This creates a strategic opportunity to divide the land into 3 (or more) parts and rotate crops based on their favorite nutrient element each season, particularly in temperate regions. In TFC, most crops take about 4 months to fully mature.

Mature crops continue to consume nutrients, so it's important to harvest them promptly. Dead plants left on the ground reduce the natural nutrient regeneration rate by 20%.

Fertilizers

The mod features specialized fertilizers for each nutrient element that instantly increase the corresponding value by 50%.

The standard TFC fertilizer now functions as potassium (K) fertilizer, saltpeter has become nitrogen (N) fertilizer, and the mod adds a new item for phosphorus (P) fertilizer. All three fertilizer types can be found by searching "fertilizer" in JEI.

The crafting recipe involves 4 blocks of sand surrounding a block of peat.

Compatibility

The mod is fully compatible with TFC Florae and Firmalife, and also fixes some issues with rice from TFC Florae.
