Tardis Mod

A long time ago, or in days to come, a schism raged throughout the stars. A mighty Time War was fought between two great races, spanning almost every dimension of time. This war cost both races everything.
Refugees and renegades scattered across the universe, fighting or fleeing for their lives. But where can one hide from a universe engulfed in flames? A few fortunate individuals in damaged timeships managed to reach an incredible sanctuary - a strange voxellian realm that seemed untouched by the horrors they had experienced.
There they abandoned their rescue vessels, leaving them broken, alone, and eventually forgotten by time. What became of these travelers... is unknown, but these legendary timeships of immense power remained... waiting to be rediscovered and yearning to once again journey through Time And Relative Dimensions In Space!

Known Incompatibilities
Optifine
Performance-enhancing mods like Optifine are not compatible with our "Bigger On The Inside" portal and Tardis interior lighting feature.
This happens because Optifine uses invasive methods that change a lot of vanilla Minecraft engine code. They modify many systems, from lighting and rendering to world generation. This means they may change or remove many systems this mod relies on.
Additionally, Optifine's source code is not publicly available, meaning we cannot work with their rendering changes.
We recommend using mods like Magnesium (Forge version of Sodium), as they don't have the same issues as Optifine, provide better or equal performance and have publicly available source code.
Immersive Portals/Better Portals
This mod is likely incompatible with Immersive Portals/Better Portals. This happens because these mods also change a lot of vanilla Minecraft code, so they may change or remove systems we rely on in this mod.
Consequently, you may experience game crashes or rendering issues when using both mods together.
We likely cannot do anything about compatibility with these mods because they apply their changes early in the mod loading process.
Better Weather
Better Weather stops a critical system of Tardis Mod - Minecraft Forge capabilities. When this happens, the Tardis engine block is disabled (you may see the message "You can only use this inside Tardis" even if you're inside Tardis), Tardis key attunement and other systems may be non-functional and cause game crashes.
This issue is being addressed, but until it's resolved, please don't use this mod with Tardis Mod.
Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Q: Is this mod a continuation of the original Tardis mod by ShaneDarkholme? A: No, although New Tardis Mod was inspired by the original mod, it has no relation to it.
Q: Who created this mod? A: New Tardis Mod was created by Lilith, and the current maintainers are the Tardis team.
Q: Why did you create this mod? A: Lilith was a fan of the original Tardis mod by ShaneDarkholme and was disappointed that it wasn't updated to newer Minecraft versions, so she created her own version!
Q: How are your "Bigger On The Inside" portals different from mods like Immersive Portals? A: Our portal rendering implementation was created by Spectre0987 in early 2018. It's designed for maximum mod compatibility. Unlike other implementations, it mainly uses vanilla Minecraft rendering systems and minimal coremodding techniques, meaning we don't interfere with other mods as much as other portal implementations do. However, being closer to vanilla Minecraft means our implementation won't offer the same types of features as in Immersive Portals.
Installation
Q: Are library mods required? A: No. You only need the Tardis mod jar file.
Q: Which Forge version do I need? A: We recommend using the latest Forge version. Make sure the Forge version matches the Minecraft version.
Mod Usage
Q: How do I get a TARDIS? A: In versions 1.14.4+, Tardis are now obtained by finding them and convincing them to open for you. In 1.12.2, you would craft a coral Tardis and wait for it to grow.
Q: Why won't Tardis take off/What are subsystems? A: Tardis requires installation of special components to become operational for flight. Currently it needs the dematerialization circuit and fluid links. Other subsystems like the chameleon circuit are required for some features in the monitor.
Q: How do I summon my TARDIS? A: You need to craft a Stattenheim remote. If you're using version 1.12.2, you need to bind it to Tardis by combining it with your Tardis key. In 1.14 you don't need to do this binding step. Finally, right-click a block with the remote. Tardis will land roughly near the block's coordinates.
Future Plans
Q: Will you update/backport to Minecraft version X? A: We can only update to a newer Minecraft version if the Forge mod loader is available for that version and also includes the modding tools we need.
We won't backport the mod to versions 1.12.2 or older.
We'll aim to target the newest Minecraft versions.
Q: Will you port Tardis Mod to the Fabric platform? A: We don't have current plans to port Tardis Mod to the Fabric platform.
There are several tools we use in this mod that are missing in Fabric API.
Additionally, there are several vanilla bugs not fixed by Fabric that directly impact this mod's gameplay experience.
We're also a small team, so we don't have the time and resources to maintain a Fabric port alongside our Forge version at the moment.
