Spears, Staves, and Swords: Weapon Expansion
This datapack significantly expands Minecraft's combat system by introducing three completely new weapon types and a unique enchantment system for each of them. The creator aimed to provide players with greater choice freedom, allowing them to select weapons that match their individual playstyle preferences.
All weapon types are carefully balanced against each other - no single option is definitively superior, each possessing its own advantages and disadvantages.
Important Note: Although the datapack is fully compatible with the vanilla version of the game, all weapon tiers exceed the characteristics of standard Minecraft weapons, including the new sword type added by this pack.
Weapon Types
Spears
Spears are based on the trident and offer unique combat tactics. Each spear deals 1 additional damage point compared to swords of the same material, while also increasing attack range by 1 block. However, these advantages come at the cost of lower attack speed. The main feature of spears is their ability to be thrown at enemies.
Available variants include: wooden, stone, iron, gold, diamond, netherite spears, plus an enhanced trident version.
- Infused Trident - an upgraded trident version with 9 damage, 1.4 attack speed, and 1.5 blocks increased range.
Staves
Based on axe characteristics, staves deliver powerful crushing blows. Each staff deals 2 extra damage compared to corresponding swords and automatically knocks back enemies. The main disadvantage is the lowest attack speed among all weapon types. The unique feature of staves is their ability to disable enemy shields.
Available materials: wood, stone, iron, gold, diamond, netherite, plus an enhanced mace version.
- Charged Mace - an upgraded mace version with 10 damage, 1.0 attack speed. Automatically stuns shields for 5 seconds.
Swords
The new swords represent enhanced versions of standard weaponry. While maintaining the basic damage of original swords, they feature slightly higher attack speed and automatically deal area damage. The unique ability is partial blocking of incoming damage.
All standard crafting materials are available, plus a special enhanced wooden sword version.
- Blooming Blade - an upgraded wooden sword with 8 damage, 1.8 attack speed, and 50% sweeping damage. Can block 50% of all incoming damage, but requires 1 second preparation time to activate defense.
