Quark-O-Plenty Chest Replacer
This modification is designed to address the problem that arises when removing the Quark-O-Plenty mod from a modpack. It carefully replaces the specialized chests from this addon with standard versions while preserving all items stored within them.
Main Functionality
This tool performs a smooth conversion of Quark-O-Plenty chests into regular Minecraft chests. The replacement process occurs automatically: special placeholder blocks gradually transform into standard containers when players interact with them, neighboring blocks change, or upon receiving random game ticks.
An important feature is that the system preserves all items contained within the replaced chests, including additional NBT data if present. It also ensures proper handling of chest items within player inventories.
What's Not Affected
This utility focuses exclusively on chest elements. Other features of the Quark-O-Plenty mod, such as vertical planks, signs, and other decorative elements, remain unchanged and are not transformed.
Development Background
The development of this tool was driven by practical necessity: after Quark-O-Plenty files became unavailable for download, many modded packs were locked and couldn't be updated. The author created this modification as a safe way to remove the problematic component from modpacks without risking the loss of valuable in-game items that might have been stored in the specialized chests of the removed mod.
Installation Guide
For proper operation, follow these steps with the game shut down: remove the original Quark-O-Plenty mod and replace it with this utility. Subsequently, as game chunks load, the chest replacement process will occur gradually. It's recommended to keep this component in the modpack permanently for complete migration or until there's an opportunity to restore the original mod.
Technical Features
Like the original Quark-O-Plenty, this modification requires the Abnormals Core library. It's important to note that the solution should theoretically work correctly with updated versions of the base mod since the initial issues were related to sign elements rather than chests. However, full testing of all scenarios is not yet complete.
