How to Become a Ranger
Currently, there are two ways to become a samurai ranger:
Method #1: For Forge and Fabric
Witches and villains recently stumbled upon a strange substance called Morph X and plan to study it to better understand its true power. They don't realize that they're actually holding a substance connected to the vast Morphing Grid. By defeating these enemies, you can take back the Morph X and use it to create an unprogrammed samuraizer, which can then be configured for one of the five samurai rangers.
Method #2: Forge Only
An unknown substance called Morphium has begun appearing in mines. By mining this ore, you can break it down to obtain Morph X, which is used to create a samuraizer as described above.
Ranger Abilities
To transform into a samurai ranger, take your designated samuraizer and place it in your off-hand slot. A menu will appear allowing you to transform with a simple button press. As a samurai ranger, you gain access to several different abilities:
- Physical Enhancements: You can run faster, jump higher, have more resistance to attacks, and naturally regenerate health
- New Weapons: You gain access to your Spin Sword - a fast weapon with decent damage, as well as your ranger's special disk. Use this disk to unlock special abilities!
- Powered-Up Mode: By pressing the designated key while holding your special disk in your main hand, you enter a powered-up state for about ten seconds. In this state, your Spin Sword becomes charged and can deal more damage. But be careful! After the ten-second period, you'll be in a weakened state for a short time due to the use of symbol power.
- Special Weapon: In powered-up mode, you can instantly switch between your charged sword and your ranger's special weapon
- Energy Blast: In powered-up mode, if you crouch and left-click with your charged sword in hand, you'll unleash a powerful energy blast that devastates your enemies. However, this action instantly ends your powered-up state, and you'll be weakened more than usual due to the use of symbol power.
- Special Attack: A unique move for each ranger. Can be activated when the ranger is using their special weapon or charged sword.
Unique Ranger Abilities
Although each ranger has the same basic gameplay mechanics, their special abilities can completely change the approach to challenges in the Minecraft world. Experiment with all of them to find the one that suits your playstyle.
Jayden: Samurai Red
Playstyle: Glass Cannon
Jayden has some of the strongest attacks among all rangers, but at the cost of vulnerability after using powerful moves for extended periods. You'll need to plan your movements carefully to maximize his potential.
Weapon: Fire Smasher
When this thing hits, it hits HARD! Don't be surprised if poor mobs fall from one hit of this heavy weapon. However, it has a very slow attack speed, and holding it significantly slows you down.
Special Attack: Cannon Blast Mode
Lock your Fire Smasher into cannon blast mode to unleash a final strike that will surely destroy your enemies. But don't rush - this attack requires time to charge, and you can't move or jump while charging. After completion, you'll receive debuffs and be locked out of powered-up mode for a full minute! Try using it as a true final attack, like in the series.
Mia: Samurai Pink
Playstyle: Zoning
All of Mia's special attacks are either projectiles or area effects, and they all knock enemies back a considerable distance, allowing natural control of space. However, enemies normally immune to knockback behave the same with Mia's attacks, so she may struggle with tougher opponents.
Weapon: Sky Fan
Right-click to release a small air blast that deals decent damage and knocks the opponent back. Perfect for distance-keeping tactics or creating space for retreat.
Special Attack: Wave of Air
Launches an area attack that hits all nearby enemies, pushing them back. As Mia says: "Buzz off!"
Mike: Samurai Green
Playstyle: Rushdown
Hit hard and hit fast! If you agree with this philosophy, you and Mike will probably become good friends! His special moves are great for closing in on enemies and dealing quick damage, though he lacks ranged attacks besides the energy blast.
Weapon: Forest Spear
A weapon with respectable damage and very high attack speed for almost instant repeated hits. You also get a nice speed boost when holding it. What's not to like?
Special Attack: Evasive Thrust
You jump backward before rushing forward in a blinding thrust, attacking everything in your path. This move can be canceled by releasing the spear before the dive, leaving only the backward leap.
Kevin: Samurai Blue
Playstyle: Support
As the only character with a true support ability, Kevin can fill a very useful niche in both single-player and multiplayer games, and is an excellent ranger for dealing with tough or incredibly hard-hitting enemies. However, his other special moves are rather weak projectiles that leave him with below-average offensive capabilities outside the basic move set shared by all rangers.
Weapon: Hydro Bow
Right-click to shoot an arrow of pure energy at your opponents with low damage.
Special Attack: Swordfish Disk
Use the healing properties of the Swordfish Disk to clear any negative status effects (except Wither) and gain some positive buffs like healing, resistance, and more! This ability also affects nearby players, making it an exceptional move for group support.
Emily: Samurai Yellow
Playstyle: Jack of All Trades
This might be ironic given her position on this list, but Emily is probably the ranger I'd recommend most to anyone playing this mod for the first time. She has a quite diverse move set that gives her great flexibility in combat and makes her arguably the easiest to learn (she's also my favorite ranger in both the series and the mod, hee-hee). At the same time, there's nothing Emily does better than other rangers. She's a "jack of all trades, master of none," as they say.
Weapon: Earth Slicer
Right-click to throw your Earth Slicer for good damage.
Special Attack: Primate Cyclone
Press the designated key with your charged sword in hand to blaze through the terrain and damage anyone in your path. Not only deals good damage but also provides good movement options!
