Origin Superpowers
Welcome to the World of Superpowers!
Meet Origin Superpowers (abbreviated as OSP) — a datapack that completely transforms the Origins mod by adding 60 unique superpowers to acquire. Upon your first game entry, you'll randomly receive one of these abilities. All powers are distributed across five rarity levels, affecting their acquisition probability. Important note: this datapack is balanced for multiplayer and servers, some abilities may not work or be useless in single-player mode.
Ability Rarity Levels
Common: Basic abilities for early game, useful but not overly powerful. Some have enhanced versions in higher categories or are limited in application with certain drawbacks. When used strategically, they can influence late-game scenarios. Total of 13 abilities.
Uncommon: The next level, mainly for early game but more effective. Includes both enhanced common abilities and completely new ones. Some can counter stronger skills but have their limitations. Total of 13 abilities.
Rare: More powerful abilities capable of impressive actions. Less specific than lower levels but may be limited in application. A diverse set of 13 abilities.
Epic: The level achieved by diligent players. Very strong and versatile abilities with multiple uses and complex mechanics. Although some may be specialized, they excel in their functions. Total of 13 abilities.
Eldritch: The highest rarity, available to only 1% of players. These abilities can affect the entire server with minimal effort. However, only a limited number of Eldritch ability bearers can exist simultaneously in a Minecraft world, each being unique and designed for a specific playstyle. Total of 8 abilities.
Acquiring New Abilities
Upon first game entry, you have an 80% chance to get a common ability and 20% for an uncommon one. All abilities within each category have equal drop chances unless the bearer limit for a specific ability is reached. Thus, obtaining all superpowers this way is impossible. How to get more powerful skills?
Power Crystals
The first method is using Power Crystals, which can be found in chests of various world structures, as well as in suspicious sand and gravel. The datapack alters standard loot tables, which may cause incompatibility with other mods or datapacks that also change these tables.
Power Crystals can be found in the following locations:
- All suspicious sand and gravel - Ancient Cities - Bastion treasure chests - End Cities - Simple dungeons - Stronghold libraries - Woodland Mansions - Drop when killing the Ender Dragon - Can be crafted using dragon egg as catalyst with end crystals and dragon's breath - Can also be created from end crystals and dragon's breath alone, but less effectiveWhen using a Power Crystal, chances for each rarity:
- Common: 5%
- Uncommon: 30%
- Rare: 20%
- Epic: 5%
- Eldritch: 0%
Elder Power Crystals
You might have noticed the absence of Eldritch abilities in these chances. To get an Eldritch ability, you need to upgrade the crystal. This is done by clicking on the Power Crystal with an upgrade item in the inventory (similar to placing an item in a bundle). There are two upgrade items: Hearts of the Sea and Nether Stars. This can be modified via tags. When using an Elder Crystal, chances are:
- Common: 0%
- Uncommon: 0%
- Rare: 50%
- Epic: 45%
- Eldritch: 5%
Countering Eldritch Abilities
But a problem arises: what to do if all Eldritch abilities are taken and you want one? There's a solution — disabling abilities. When a player's ability is disabled, the magical part stops working while the physical part continues to function. For example, shooting fire is considered magic, while wings sprouting from your back is deemed a physical change. When any ability is disabled and that player is killed by another, there's a 25% chance they'll lose their ability. Some superpowers can disable others, and there's also an item — the Anti-Power Crystal. Created by clicking on an Echo Shard with an Elder Power Crystal. When in your inventory, this item disables your ability and those of players within a small radius. Attacking a player with an Anti-Power Crystal in hand causes temporary disablement. Additionally, if placed on a beacon via an item frame, it creates an area of effect equal to the beacon's effect radius. If you need an Eldritch ability and someone already has it or all slots are taken, you can eliminate them while they're disabled. This method also serves to counter powerful Eldritch abilities.
Conclusion and Credits
This concludes all free information, as mystery is part of the datapack's concept. Questions like "What abilities exist?", "Can someone effectively counter my ability?" and "What ability does that player have?" should remain unanswered for greater interest.
Additionally, this datapack includes an addon API, allowing you to add new abilities to the game via additional datapacks. Tutorials will be available soon.
The pack offers excellent admin tools if you're running it on your server. To view them, while in creative mode, execute the command /trigger op_menu. Through this menu, you can edit limits for each ability and rarity, disable unwanted abilities or rarities, view who possesses which ability. Tools for managing various aspects are also provided. You can even create addon datapacks that change the item for upgrading Elder Crystals, chances for each rarity for each method (entry, Power Crystal, Elder Crystal), and much more.
Anyway, enjoy my datapack. Visit my discord to ask questions about the datapack, participate in discussions, report bugs, or play on my OSP testing server. I started working on this datapack many months ago and continue to develop it. I hope you enjoy it and create something cool with it.
