OpenComputers - Programmable Computers in Minecraft
What is OpenComputers?
The OpenComputers mod adds fully programmable computers to Minecraft that run on Lua 5.2 and 5.3 programming languages. These devices maintain their state between gaming sessions - when the world loads, the computer will continue program execution from where it left off.

Main Features
Programmable Devices
![]()
The mod's main feature is computers that can be programmed in Lua. The system preserves script states when exiting the game, enabling creation of complex automated systems. When compatible power-generating mods are present, computers require energy to operate.
Mobile Assistants
![]()
In addition to stationary computers, the mod offers robots and drones - mobile assistants capable of moving around the world and interacting with the environment. Robots are more powerful and can use tools, while drones offer greater mobility and can perform actions like leashing animals.
Other devices are also available: servers (four computers in one block), microcontrollers (budget limited computers), and tablets (portable computers).
Components and Peripherals

The mod includes numerous specialized components: hologram projectors for creating three-dimensional images and 3D printers for printing decorative blocks with custom shapes. Created models can be easily shared with other players.
Modular Architecture

OpenComputers is built on modular principles - you can independently choose components for assembling computers and robots. Multiple tiers of cases, monitors, graphics cards, network cards, and other components are available, creating a sense of progression as technologies develop.
Compatibility with Other Mods
![]()
The mod supports integration with many popular mods: bundled redstone systems (Project Red, Redlogic, and others), cable systems (FMP, Immibis Microblocks), and various energy systems (RF, EU, Factorization Charge, and others).
The Adapter block allows computers to interact with blocks from other mods, obtaining energy level information and sending commands. Many mods have built-in support for OpenComputers.
Flexible Configuration

Almost all aspects of the mod's operation can be customized to suit your needs. The configuration file contains detailed comments explaining the purpose of each option. Crafting recipes can also be modified without using additional mods.
Gameplay Features
OpenComputers fits well into survival mode and is particularly interesting when combined with mods that add resource processing automation and crafting. Creating computers requires significant resources, so don't expect to get your first computer early in the game.
Support for New Minecraft Versions
There are currently no active plans to port the mod to newer Minecraft versions. Due to the project's complexity and scale, this requires significant time investment. Community attempts to create ports have been made, but no progress has been made recently.
