Not Enough Trials - Complete Trial Chambers Overhaul
Not Enough Trials is a datapack (also available as a mod) that fundamentally transforms trial chambers in Minecraft by adding more content, mechanics, and variety, while making difficulty and rewards more predictable.
🔧 Core Changes
All chamber spaces are significantly expanded, eliminating the confusing maze-like navigation of the original. Each chamber now generates consistently without constantly overlapping each other and dead-end hallways. Instead of hiding underground, trial chambers openly appear in the world, making them easier to find while mining.
- Strategic wind charge usage: now needed to activate hard-to-reach buttons and efficiently open groups of trapdoors
- Enhanced dispensers: much more powerful, allowing them to be used as tactical weapons against enemies
- Interactive copper blocks: every chiseled copper block activates something when scraped
- Balanced spawners: each chamber always contains 4 spawners (3 normal and 1 tough), ensuring predictable key quantities
- Luck effect: luck potions can be found in secret rooms and increase loot drops from chests
👾 Mobs and Balance
All mobs are separated into "normal" and "tough" categories. Many creatures have been modified for better balance and gameplay convenience ("O" stands for "ominous" version).
Standard Mobs
- Normal version: standard survival kit
- Ominous: most gain upgraded armor and enchanted bows
- Transformed: spiders become cave spiders, slimes become magma cubes, creepers become (nerfed) charged creepers
Tough Mobs
- Breezes, blazes, wither skeletons, and other dangerous creatures
- Mounted mobs: players face strays riding cave spiders
- Special abilities: guardians have increased damage, ghasts remain stationary in cages
🎁 Rewards and Loot
The loot system has been completely rebalanced! Main chests are now divided into three types: armor, valuables, and weapons, allowing you to personalize the loot you receive.
Chest Types
- Armor: armor pieces, enchantment books, shields
- Valuables: emeralds, iron ingots, diamonds
- Weapons: arrows, bows, axes, trident and sword books
💡 Tip: aesthetic-based loot (pottery sherds, banner patterns) has been moved to hidden chests at intersections to avoid interfering with more useful vault loot.
Ominous Chests
- Guaranteed to drop wind charges
- Chance to receive ominous bottles (level 1-3)
- Upgraded versions of standard loot for gameplay
