Netherite Buckets

This mod introduces two new sturdy items crafted from netherite - buckets and cauldrons. This construction allows you to work with lava, whereas traditional iron counterparts lose this ability.

Developer's Vision

Have you ever felt that lava is too accessible and powerful as a fuel source in the game? Its automated extraction through dripstone and cauldrons takes just a few minutes, yet provides unlimited energy for your furnaces. While this gameplay approach is interesting in itself, its implementation moment comes too early.

At the same time, lava has another property - it destroys any items that fall into it, except those made from netherite.

This modification combines both concepts, adding difficulty to early and mid-game stages and increasing the importance of the valuable netherite resource.

Achievement Changes

Now the "minecraft:story/form_obsidian" achievement becomes available only after obtaining "minecraft:story/smelt_iron".

To obtain "minecraft:story/lava_bucket" you first need to obtain ancient debris ("minecraft:nether/obtain_ancient_debris") and have a netherite lava bucket - "netheritebuckets:netherite_lava_bucket" with you. The achievement description will display the corresponding item.

Regular Buckets and Cauldrons

Standard versions of lava buckets and cauldrons don't disappear anywhere - so you don't have to worry about losing existing blocks or items. Their functionality remains the same, with one exception: ordinary buckets can no longer fill these items with lava.

For technical reasons, it's still possible to fill ordinary cauldrons with boiling magma from regular lava buckets. Mutual exchange between a regular full cauldron and an empty bucket still works.

For new worlds, this isn't a problem - there are no alternative methods for obtaining lava through buckets or cauldrons.

However, other addons or datapacks with additional capabilities are considered an exception. The player is also given freedom of choice regarding the future fate of existing lava buckets and cauldrons in old saves.
