Muon

Muon is a mod for Minecraft versions 1.9 through 1.12, built on Forge and inspired by the Quark project. The mod's primary focus is enhancing villages while preserving the vanilla game's style and spirit.

Fixed terrain around villages

Muon functions as a CoreMod and interacts with the game's source code at a deeper level than standard modifications, which limits its support to specific Minecraft versions. While the original author is no longer active in the community, the project remains open source, and new versions may emerge through community contributions.

Every feature can be configured via configuration files, allowing players to fine-tune all changes according to their preferences.

All system settings that fix vanilla game deficiencies are enabled by default, and disabling all options returns the game to its standard behavior. Features that significantly alter game mechanics must be manually enabled. Default settings provide improved world generation without adding completely new elements.

Functionality in Version 0.2 (Alpha)

  • Added "Village Groves" parameter: option to create dense tree stands within settlements. This must be activated separately.
  • Implemented foundation for generating additional structures considering terrain features.
  • Introduced option to automatically enable future version features.
  • Added update checking mechanism for Muon.
  • Fixed bug reading mcmod.info file in Windows.
  • Resolved crashes when encountering modded buildings without orientation specifications.

Functionality in Version 0.1 (Alpha)

  • Function to adjust vertical building placement in villages, solving the problem of inaccessible doorways positioned too high or buried underground.
  • Terrain fixes around villages: ensuring all pathways remain accessible and eliminating cliffs on mountain slopes.
  • Alternative path generation system with improved visual appearance and creation of simple bridges across small rivers.
  • Guaranteed accessibility of scattered features like temples and igloos, which sometimes spawned inside hills.
  • World generation preservation: the number of random values used remains unchanged, ensuring reproducibility of worlds with identical seeds.

Development Plans

Future plans include implementing behavioral changes for villagers and adding new professions such as miners and foresters.

The current version is marked as BETA since, despite minor outstanding issues, it has undergone sufficient testing for supported game versions.

All code has undergone basic verification, though experience with multiplayer server usage remains limited.
