MAtmos
MAtmos is a sound atmosphere generator for Minecraft versions 1.12 and 1.7.10. Originally created by developer Hurricaaane, the project is now maintained by a community of enthusiasts.
When you connect to a multiplayer server or launch a single-player world, MAtmos analyzes the surrounding environment and creates an appropriate sound landscape of natural noises, filling the eternal silence of Minecraft with diverse atmospheric sounds.

Sound Packs
MAtmos allows you to create your own sound scenes using special resource packs called sound packs. Among the already created options, the following stand out:
MAtmos 2020 "Zen"
The flagship sound pack with seamless loops and atmosphere variations for indoor and outdoor spaces. Its goal is to add high-quality sounds that enhance the atmosphere without disrupting the harmony of the game world. (Requires MAtmos version 34 or higher.)
Default Sound Pack
The original MAtmos sound pack from 2012, updated to work with the latest versions of the mod.
Rhapsodia
Rhapsodia's goal is to improve audio experiences in Minecraft. Now rain actually sounds like rain, thunder rumbles powerfully, and potions can be drunk without sounds reminiscent of grandma slurping soup.
Other Sound Packs
Additional sound packs can be found in the corresponding section.
How to Use
By default, MAtmos does not include sounds. To get started, move the desired sound packs to the resource packs folder and activate them.
Pressing the F4 key opens the MAtmos settings menu, where you can adjust the volume of individual components that make up the sound packs. You can even combine different components from different sound packs! Customize your gaming experience exactly the way you like it.

Recommended Companion Mods
Dynamic Surroundings for improved footstep sounds. (Yes, it's compatible.) Disable biome sounds in the configuration to keep only the footstep sounds.
Sound Filters / Sound Physics for reverb effects and muffling of sounds behind walls.
Mixin Troubleshooting
MAtmos uses Mixin to apply some changes to the game. Regular versions of the mod include Mixin, so MAtmos can run standalone: the version for 1.7.10 contains Mixin 0.7.11, while the version for 1.12.2 contains Mixin 0.8.3. However, this can cause conflicts with other mods if they provide or require a different version.
If Mixin errors occur during launch, try the following steps in order:
- Use versions of MAtmos ending with
+nomixin, which do not include Mixin (but require this library from another mod). - Add a Mixin loader mod, such as MixinBooter for version 1.12.2 or UniMixins for version 1.7.10.
Additionally, some mods use ASM transformers that break when Mixin is present. Mixingasm can fix this issue. UniMixins includes it for version 1.7.10, and for version 1.12.2, you can add the Mixingasm module alongside MixinBooter.
