Lingering Loot

Note: Requires forgelin to function.

Lingering Loot is a powerful tool for fine-tuning the behavior of dropped items in Minecraft. Originally created to extend the standard 5-minute despawn timer, the mod has evolved into a versatile solution for customizing gameplay in modpacks.

Beta 4.3 Update

  • Fixed a rare crash scenario
  • Comparisons: Multiply light value by 16 to better match integer light levels
  • Comparisons: Added variables for despawn timer and pickup delay (values before rules execution)
  • Generation of default rules file that avoids items with non-standard timers or delays
  • Added protection against items detected at unexpected points in their lifecycle
  • Improved fakeplayer handling for hardcore despawn handler
  • Recommended to regenerate lingeringloot.rules file for updated documentation

Version 4.x Features

  • Comprehensive rule-based configuration with combination of various conditions
  • Rule conditions: item names, oredict, source mod, drop method
  • Complex boolean logic with nested tags
  • Individual settings for despawn time, pickup delay, and handler behavior
  • Item conversion (e.g., ore deduplication when mining)
  • Clear syntax error messages with line numbers
  • Automatic migration of configurations from version 3.x
  • Real-time rule reloading with /llreload command

Version 3.x Features

  • Wiggling animation before item despawn (on client)
  • Configurable timer for creative mode drops and /give command
  • Adjustable pickup delay for mined blocks

Lingering Loot Hardcore Mode

Despawning items perform various actions: blocks place themselves, throwables launch themselves, and more! Disabled by default as impractical. Death by infinite chickens is optional. Works best with reduced item despawn timers.
