Leather Overhaul

The mod fundamentally reworks the leather system in Minecraft, addressing existing issues and adding unique mechanics that make leather armor more appealing to use.

Leather Armor Enhancement

Special enhancement kits allow you to improve leather armor currently worn by your character. Each kit can be used 4 times - one application per armor piece.

Enhanced armor gains an additional durability layer displayed as a blue bar. It's important to note that this extra durability is not affected by Unbreaking or Mending enchantments.

Additionally, enhanced armor provides an extra point of protection until the enhancement layer wears off. If you apply an enhancement kit at a smithing table, you can get more bonus durability and partially restore the base durability of the armor.

Potion Effects on Enhanced Armor

You can apply potions with positive effects to leather armor using enhancement kits. Potion effects activate every time the armor takes damage.

The effect disappears if the extra durability is completely depleted or if another enhancement kit is applied.

Leather Item Recycling

Leather items can be recycled back into leather by placing them in a crafting table with shears. The shears lose 3 durability points with each use.

Leather armor with durability above 50% yields 2 pieces of leather, while armor with lower durability yields only 1. Saddles and horse armor yield 3 pieces of leather when recycled.

Storage Bundles

Bundles can be crafted from leather or rabbit hides. This feature is configurable to avoid conflicts with other mods like Quark.

Bundles can be dyed different colors for convenient inventory organization. To remove the color, simply use a dyed bundle on a cauldron with water.

Leather Drops

Cows and Mooshrooms guaranteed drop 2 additional pieces of leather besides the standard 0-2 drop, making leather more accessible in the early game.

The amount of additional leather can be configured in the range of 0 to 4 units.

Compatibility

Currently, the mod is only compatible with Forge. Porting to Fabric is not guaranteed and will be done at the developer's discretion.

The mod is not compatible with any other mods that modify leather armor or bundles.
