Golemancy is a large-scale datapack project that adds 9 unique origins with technological and synthetic themes to the game. We always welcome feedback and suggestions for improvement!

This content requires the Origins mod to function, as Golemancy is specifically a datapack for it.

FOREST GOLEM 🟢⚪⚪

"Forest golems are created by nature itself and exist in harmony with the natural order"

This origin is perfect for lovers of forest and jungle biomes. The Forest Golem gains advantages from farming and building with wood—time to build tree houses! The origin's design minimally alters vanilla gameplay.

  • Camouflage: Free movement through foliage and invisibility while inside it
  • Nature's Gift: Logs yield 6 planks instead of 4
  • Careful: Immunity to thorny plants
  • Nature's Secrets: Tools and armor slowly repair over time
  • Biofuel: The body cannot convert meat into energy
  • Light Frame: 2 fewer hearts of health

INVENTOR 🟢⚪⚪

"A tool-focused inventor who adds extra functionality to existing items"

This origin is entirely built around tools and the fact that its representative cannot use a shield! Instead, they can maximize the potential of ordinary items, having 35 unique abilities depending on the item in the off-hand. Perfect for creative players who love experimentation and discovery.

  • Inventor's Joy: Ability to unlock the hidden potential of ordinary tools and items
  • Scrap Armor: Additional armor plates provide increased protection
  • Explosive Innovations: Reduced damage from explosions
  • Unwieldy: Hand structure prevents holding a shield

STEAM GOLEM 🟢⚪⚪

"A locomotive construct that converts steam into energy"

Travel-oriented origin that can empower itself with powerful enhancements after accumulating steam. Combined with increasing speed on rails, this allows quick handling of routine tasks like resource gathering and travel.

  • Steam Accumulators: Steam accumulation in water above heat sources (different sources have varying efficiency)
  • Steam Engine: Releasing accumulated steam to gain increased speed, mining speed, attack speed, bonus damage, and regeneration
  • Metro Surfer: Gradual speed increase during continuous movement on rails, efficient rail crafting
  • Heavy Metal: No need to breathe underwater but too heavy to swim and sinks to the bottom
  • Tireless Engine: 6 times longer until fatigue sets in
  • Smokestack: Less efficient conversion of food into energy, requires more food

LIVING DOLL 🟠🟠⚪

"An animated doll capable of sewing itself back together"

More relaxed origin capable of healing itself using wool and string… but only wool or string. Immunity to fall damage and inability to starve to death make it an excellent choice for casual players.

  • Cotton Protection: Unique body provides immunity to most environmental damage
  • Synthetic Stomach: Requires less food, cannot starve to death
  • Patchwork Body: No natural healing, health restoration by consuming wool and string
  • Melting Point: Double damage from fire
  • Soft Body: 1 fewer heart of health

COPPER GOLEM 🟠🟠⚪

"A construction golem capable of utilizing copper's properties"

Construction origin capable of creating ordinary tools and blocks from copper… but also requiring it for healing. Also suffers from oxidation over time.

  • Architect and Metalworker: Familiarity with copper as a material allows crafting many additional items
  • Antioxidant: Honeycombs allow waxing oneself, temporarily stopping oxidation
  • Lightning Rod: Higher chance of being struck by lightning during thunderstorms, immunity to lightning, oxidation removal when struck
  • Synthetic Stomach: Requires less food, cannot starve to death
  • Oxidation: Slow body oxidation over time, removed with an axe
  • Heavy Metal: No need to breathe underwater but too heavy to swim and sinks to the bottom
  • Copper Core: No natural or magical healing, health restoration by consuming copper ingots
  • Melting Point: Double damage from fire

AQUANAUT 🟠🟠⚪

"A living diving suit designed for moving along the ocean floor"

Aquatic origin that cannot swim, instead running and jumping along the ocean floor with its grappling hook!

  • Water Acrobatics: Slow falling in water, normal block breaking and vision
  • Dredging Line: In water, can fire a grappling hook to pull towards blocks or entities towards you
  • Deep Diver: Climbing surfaces using kelp as a ladder
  • Heavy Metal: No need to breathe underwater but too heavy to swim and sinks to the bottom
  • Pressurized: Slower movement

SENTINEL 🔴🔴🔴

"A living suit of armor gifted with the ability to modify and enhance itself"

Allows enhancing and customizing oneself by replacing the vanilla armor system! Additionally, can only heal itself using iron ingots/nuggets.

  • Enhancement: Continuous body improvement using found resources
  • Aura Manipulation: Periodic Aura gain as enhancement progresses, combinable with specific items for permanent bonuses
  • Construct Stomach: No hunger or natural regeneration
  • Heavy Metal: No need to breathe underwater but too heavy to swim and sinks to the bottom
  • Iron Core: No natural or magical healing, health restoration by consuming iron ingots or nuggets
  • Made of Metal: Cannot equip armor
  • Melting Point: Double damage from fire
  • Unconcealable: Cannot use invisibility

Upgrade order: None (0) → Copper (20) → Iron (25) → Gold (25) → Lapis Lazuli (50) → Diamond (25) → Netherite (4) → XP levels (7-10)

Aura items: Iron (health), Gold (damage), Lapis Lazuli (out of combat movement speed)

FROST GOLEM 🔴🔴🔴

"A creature made of snow and ice that thrives in cold climates"

Origin emphasizing environment and temperature. Suffers from needing to stay cool and actively heals at the cost of increasing temperature. Also capable of moving through snow and ice.

  • Ice Body: Healing at will at the cost of significantly raising temperature, slow regeneration in snow
  • Merge with Frost: Free movement through snow and ice
  • Shovelable: Creating snowballs with a shovel at durability cost
  • Construct Stomach: No hunger or natural regeneration
  • Thermodynamics: Sensitivity to temperature, overheating leads to melting and death
  • Frigid: Triple damage from fire
  • Snow Cover: 1 fewer heart of health

MAGMATIST 🔴🔴🔴

"A viscous molten construct capable of moving quickly through lava"

Nether origin heavily dependent on lava—in which it can swim! Prolonged time outside lava causes hunger, reducing health and saturation.

  • Magma Armor: Attacking enemies are set on fire
  • Boiling Body: Swimming in lava and immunity to fire
  • Nether Spawn: Spawns in the Nether
  • Sleepless: Cannot sleep
  • Molten Core: Constant need for access to lava
  • Hydrophobia: Gradual damage from contact with water

Frequently Asked Questions

"How do I install this mod?" — Golemancy is actually not a mod, but a datapack! Datapacks are stored locally in your world folder and installed by placing them in the datapacks folder. There are many advantages to using datapacks instead of addon mods.

"What happened to Globetrotter?" — It was unsuccessful. Globetrotter didn't fulfill its intended tasks and didn't bring anything interesting. Steam Golem is its replacement and spiritual successor.

"Why did X change so much?" — Golemancy receives regular updates; these can include numerous balance changes or sometimes complete reworks.

"Why is X so overpowered/underpowered?!" — Balance may not be perfect since creating balanced content is a challenging task. Feedback is always welcome!

"Where can I give feedback, ask questions, or report bugs?" — In addition to platform comments, we have a Discord server for discussion!
