ForceGL2.0-Remapped
This Minecraft mod enables forced selection of a specific OpenGL version for the game to use. It supports popular loaders including Fabric, Forge, Quilt, and NeoForge.
Compatibility and Features
The mod works seamlessly with the latest versions of Sodium (and its forks), as well as other optimization mods like Lithium and Starlight. The only known incompatible addon is ImmediatelyFast, which may cause graphical artifacts with mobs when used alongside Iris with shaders enabled.
Troubleshooting Launch Issues
If the mod fails to load on Forge or NeoForge, follow these steps:
- Launch the game once and wait for it to crash
- Navigate to the .minecraft/config folder and open the fml.toml file
- Change the parameter earlyWindowControl = true to earlyWindowControl = false
- Restart the game with the mod installed
Key Fixes
The mod resolves driver crashes on older graphics cards caused by Java exceptions during shader loading through Iris or Oculus. It also fixes game launch issues related to OpenGL errors.
Development Background
Starting from Minecraft 1.17, Mojang changed the required OpenGL version to 3.2, making it impossible to run the game on legacy graphics cards that don't support this version. This mod reverts GLFW settings to their Minecraft 1.16 state, allowing gameplay on older hardware.
Important Warnings
Although testing revealed no issues, remember that the mod forces the game to run on an unsupported OpenGL version. This may cause unexpected problems with other mods or resource packs. It's recommended to upgrade your graphics card as soon as possible for proper functionality with modern Minecraft versions.
Technical Support
Due to the use of an unsupported OpenGL version, the author cannot guarantee comprehensive technical support for all encountered issues. The mod only changes the OpenGL version without making other modifications to the game's code.
