Farsighted Mobs - When Mobs Spot You From Afar
If you've been playing Minecraft for a while, you've probably noticed how nearsighted hostile creatures are in the game. Creepers and other mobs stop noticing the player at just 16 blocks away. Considering that mobs don't spawn within 24 blocks of the character, this creates overly safe conditions - you can simply stand still, and the chance of a mob randomly coming close enough is extremely low.
What the Modification Changes
This mod dramatically changes the situation by increasing hostile mobs' detection radius to 24 blocks by default. On hard difficulty, mobs get an additional 8 blocks to their sight range. Local difficulty is also taken into account - the more dangerous the area, the better mobs can spot the player.
With these settings, hostile creatures become much more attentive and aggressive, especially at higher difficulty levels. Players will need to be much more cautious and plan their movements carefully.
Flexible Configuration for Pack Creators
Starting from version 3.0.0, Farsighted Mobs uses a rule-based system built on datapacks. When a mob spawns in the world, all applicable rules are checked that can modify its characteristics. Standard rules consider creature type and difficulty level.
The system is fully customizable - you can add your own rules as described in the mod's documentation. For example, you could make creepers that spawn during rain larger and more resilient, or speed up drowned mobs in swamps. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.
Important: changes only affect newly spawning mobs. Creatures that already existed in the world before installing the mod or changing configuration remain unchanged.
The mod is completely server-side - players don't need to install it on the client.
