Origins: Errorian

This data pack is designed for the Origins mod and offers players a unique experience of playing as a character with corrupted code.

Game Concept

Imagine that upon entering the world, your character's code has become corrupted. This has granted you unusual abilities but simultaneously deprived you of important code elements. The game system has recognized this anomaly and is attempting to fix it, but its only solution is to completely eliminate the problem - which means eliminating you.

Teleportation-Based Abilities

Teleportation control plays a key role in this origin:

  • Focused Teleportation - movement to the point you're looking at
  • Scattered Teleportation - random movement nearby
  • Targeted Focused Teleportation - teleportation of the target you're looking at in the direction of their gaze
  • Targeted Scattered Teleportation - random teleportation of the selected target to a nearby location

Protective Mechanisms

You have access to the following defensive properties:

  1. Defensive No-Clip - the ability to pass through blocks activates automatically when stuck inside them

  2. Corrupted Hunger Indicator - your character doesn't require food due to corrupted hunger code

  3. Splicing - destroying enemies allows you to incorporate their code into your own, restoring health

Origin Problems

The player faces a series of limiting factors:

  • Damage Registration Error - random chance of receiving +1 additional damage or -1 reduced damage

  • Debugger Pursues - every in-game day (20 minutes), creatures appear that try to destroy you

  • Unstable Health Indicator - health constantly fluctuates from 10 to 20 units without natural regeneration

  • Secondary Hand Failure - use of the off-hand becomes unavailable

  • Destabilization - prolonged avoidance of teleportation abilities begins to damage the character

This origin requires a strategic approach to ability management and seriously affects gameplay, forcing the player to constantly stay in motion and balance between using their powers and avoiding the consequences of their use.
