Dragon Mounts 2: Expanded
Let us introduce you to an exciting mod that will transform your Minecraft adventures into epic journeys on the back of powerful dragons.
About the Mod
Dragon Mounts 2: Expanded is the continuation of the iconic dragon mod, now maintained by the Dragon Mounts Team with support from the original creators. This mod gives players the ability to hatch and tame dragon eggs that were previously useless decorations.
Major Improvements
The development team has performed extensive work:
- Completely removed external dependencies – the mod no longer requires LLibrary to function
- Codebase has been refined and optimized
- Numerous bugs from previous versions have been fixed
- New dragon types and features have been added
- Configuration files have been redesigned with convenient settings

Starting Your adventure
Finding and Hatching Dragons
First, you need to find a dragon nest. These structures generate in different biomes and dimensions, varying in appearance and contents. In each nest, you'll find a solitary dragon egg and a treasure chest.
To collect the egg, hit it – but be careful not to damage it. Carry your precious find to a safe location (it must remain in loaded chunks). Right-click the egg to begin the hatching process, which takes about an hour.
Growth Stages and Taming
Dragons go through 5 development stages:
- Freshly hatched hatchling
- Infant
- Young dragon
- Adolescent
- Adult dragon
Each stage lasts approximately 20 minutes. You can start taming your little dragon immediately after hatching – feed it raw fish or meat, similar to taming wolves in vanilla.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't dragon whistles work? You need to select a specific dragon by hitting it with the whistle first (it won't hurt them). The dragon must be standing or flying at that moment.
Where can I find dragon eggs? Eggs don't spawn naturally – search for nests in various biomes: water dragons in swamps, sunlight dragons in deserts, fire dragons in mountain ranges.
How do I hatch a dragon? Place the egg in a safe location, right-click it, and wait about an hour. Make sure to stay nearby – the process stops in unloaded chunks.
How do I tame and ride a dragon? Feed your baby dragon fish until you see hearts above its head. For riding – equip a saddle through the dragon's inventory and control flight using WASD.
