DireColonies

Logo

This addon for MineColonies provides a simple way to install the 9x9 style pack, allowing you to create colony buildings inspired by Direwolf20's favorite building style.

Installation

Install the mod as usual. Naturally, you'll also need the main MineColonies mod and its dependencies. If you previously installed an older version of this pack as a separate folder, it's recommended to delete it.

Gameplay

When using a supply camp, supply chest, or build tool, you'll see a "Direcolonies" section with the available "9x9" style pack. Select it to apply this style.

The supply camp is a classic dirt hut containing a guide and pre-installed town hall. Usually you can build the town hall in its current location, though in some cases you might need to break and reinstall it using the build tool. When properly installed, the town hall will transform the dirt hut into a standard stone 9x9 building, which will then upgrade by adding standard expandable rooms. The town hall is also intended to serve as a player home where you can place your own mechanisms. Upgrades won't destroy most of the contents, though they will repair walls if you've tunneled through them.

The supply ship is a 9x9 building on a barge. It also contains a guide and town hall, but not pre-installed—you'll need to choose a suitable land location to install the town hall yourself.

Colony buildings are designed for very dense placement—each building overlaps by one block on all sides, leaving one block of space between walls of adjacent buildings. A decorative grid is available that you can either place or use in preview mode for alignment if needed. However, this is only recommended placement—you can space buildings further apart, especially if building your colony in hilly terrain with different elevation levels.

Building Features

There are two warehouse versions—standard and integrated with couriers (2 courier huts per level), eliminating the need to install them separately. You can use either option or even both if you want more than one warehouse.

Similarly, there are two miner versions—standard miner and a smaller variant intended only for hiring a quarrier (without the mineshaft). Also worth noting is that the simple quarry is a mining staircase—while it appears very large, it won't take up much surface space but will require significant underground area. You can further extend the staircase after completion.

Finally, there are two plantation versions—classic style with integrated sugarcane, bamboo, and cactus fields, and a smaller variant for use with separately placed fields. Currently the 9x9 pack includes only a few possible field types (the most useful ones, considering the blocks used in the style). If you want to use a different plantation field type, you'll need to replace it from another style, request its addition, or create your own!

Most other buildings are fairly self-explanatory if you're already familiar with MineColonies, or explained in the guide. All buildings from level 2 and up are filled with placeholders, allowing you to decorate interiors and exteriors as you wish—though functional blocks may be added each level, they're usually placed in the hut center, preserving your wall decorations. Also in the "infrastructure" section there are "empty" buildings you can install if you need an additional 9x9 or 9x19 structure for your own purposes, along with decorative walls and paths.
