Dark Hours
Without a timekeeper overseeing the clock towers of the Overworld, their mechanisms have rusted, and fog seeps into forests when time is most vulnerable. Created for Spookyjam 2024.
This mod causes forest biomes to become foggy from midnight to sunrise, when two new monsters spawn: the Lumber and the Forest Clock. The darkness can be dispelled for 10 game days (configurable) by finding a clock tower and interacting with its internal mechanisms using a Time Density Manifest.
Forest biomes include all types of forests, jungles, and taigas.
Lumber
A very tall monster with high health that attacks players telepathically. When hiding under trees, it generally cannot see players but will randomly peer under trees and other structures to locate them. Upon detection, it applies a mental load effect that impairs vision and causes the player to suffocate on land, although it cannot apply the effect if the player is already under mental load, giving time to escape.
Drops lumber goo.

Forest Clock
A monster that can only be killed with fire and actively searches for players. Upon spotting them, it applies a countdown effect that teleports them to their last position before entering a forest biome. It attracts the directional functionality of the Time Density Manifest item if the player is heading towards one, disrupting the search for a clock tower.
Can be right-clicked with a clock while having at least 1 experience level to create enchanted clocks.

Added Items

- Spawn eggs for Forest Clocks and Lumber
- Potion of Rewinding: Applies a countdown effect and teleports to the position where the potion was consumed or where countdown was applied after drinking
- Enchanted Clock: Obtained by using a clock on Forest Clocks with at least 1 experience level, can be crafted into a Time Density Manifest or brewed from awkward potions into a Potion of Rewinding
- Time Density Manifest: At sunset, directs the player towards a clock tower or Forest Clock nearby by comparing old and new positions and lighting up green if on the right path. Can be used on a reality gear inside a clock tower to clear forest fog for a configurable number of days
- Lumber Goo: Can be applied to any weather-affected copper block to fully corrode it to its final stage, can be crafted into lumbering eyes
- Lumbering Eye: A consumable that, when looking at an entity within 20 blocks not already under mental load, applies mental load, impairing vision if it's a player and removing air bubbles, causing drowning damage that ignores armor
