CraftLink - Built-in Browser for Minecraft

Welcome to CraftLink - my first mod that adds a convenient built-in web browser to Minecraft. It's specifically designed for quick information searches during gameplay.

Simplicity and Convenience

CraftLink is created with a focus on minimalism and practicality. It's not a full-fledged browser like Chrome or Safari, but rather a tool for the game. The mod doesn't distract from the main gameplay but enhances it with useful features.

Work Efficiency

Although the mod doesn't speed up resource gathering, it significantly simplifies information searching. The built-in search bar allows instant finding of needed information or direct navigation to websites. Intuitive keyboard shortcuts provide quick access to scaling, refreshing, and other functions.

Main Features

Demonstration of search bar operation with 'Hello' query in Google The search bar allows quick information searches in the selected search engine. Access it directly from the game using the Backspace key without opening the browser window. In the browser itself, use CTRL + Space.

Using search bar for direct URL navigation For direct website navigation, enter URLs with the '>' symbol at the beginning. By default, the search bar always uses the selected search engine, even for URLs.

Changing page zoom Change page zoom using CTRL + mouse wheel scroll.

Browser refresh Refresh the page with CTRL + R combination.

Return to home page Return to the home page using CTRL + H.

Help window with list of control key combinations The help window with all keyboard shortcuts opens by pressing CTRL + SHIFT.

Mod settings and configuration screen Open the settings screen using CTRL + S.

Changing page resolution Change page resolution using CTRL + up/down arrows. For most cases, regular zooming is recommended.

Changing search engine from Google to Bing You can change the default search engine. The example shows switching to Bing.

Settings and Performance

The mod uses proven MCEF, owo-lib, and MidnightLib libraries, ensuring stable operation without affecting game performance.

What Can Be Configured?

The settings screen contains detailed explanations for all configuration parameters:

  • Home page URL (Google by default)
  • Choice from preset options: Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, Ask, or custom URL
  • Default scaling factor (1.0 or 100%)
  • Search engine for the search bar (Google by default)
  • Activation of keyboard shortcut hints when holding CTRL (disabled by default)
  • Display of "Loading..." message during page loading (disabled by default)

Additional Features

  • Access to settings through ModMenu
  • Opening links from in-game chat directly in the browser
  • Helper panel when pressing Control (disabled by default)
  • Page loading indicator (disabled by default)
  • Secret element in the settings menu :)

Important Note

The browser always attempts to load a page. If the page doesn't exist, a blank screen is displayed. This may change in the future, but the error detection algorithm is currently under development. If problems occur, use CTRL+SHIFT+S to automatically search for the non-working URL in the selected search engine.

Built-in Documentation

Although a separate wiki page exists, the mod itself includes a built-in help window accessible via [CTRL + SHIFT] combination.

Licensing

The mod is distributed under the MIT license.
