Combat Nouveau


About the Modification
Combat Nouveau lets you experience features from Mojang's Combat Tests right now. You'll get refined combat mechanics and much more! The mod includes numerous additional changes and settings, all customizable to your preferences.

Key Features
Enhanced Combat System
- Switching items on the hotbar doesn't trigger attack cooldown
- Missing targets doesn't activate cooldown (disabled by default)
- Can disable attacks when cooldown is too low
- Holding attack button allows repeated strikes (disabled by default)
Extended Reach
- Swords, hoes, and tridents have increased attack range
- Base range remains 3.0 blocks (not reduced to 2.5 as in test versions)
Improved Mechanics
- Small mobs (fish, rabbits, silverfish, and baby mobs) have hitboxes inflated to at least 0.9 blocks
- Sweep attacks require Sweeping Edge enchantment, deal half damage, and work even when missing
- Shields properly knock back attackers (bug fix)
Inventory Optimization
- Increased stack sizes for snowballs, eggs, and potions
- Faster consumption of potions, milk, and bottled liquids
- Added brief delay when throwing eggs and snowballs
Tactical Improvements
- Eating and drinking are interrupted when taking damage
- Shields become usable immediately after activation (no standard 0.25-second delay)
- Shield protection arc reduced to 100 degrees
- Projectile hits don't grant temporary damage immunity
- Sprinting doesn't stop when hitting targets, especially useful in aquatic combat
Visual Enhancements
- Certain items (like totems of undying) can be hidden when held in offhand
- Using shield shows indicator similar to attack cooldown indicator

Configuration
Configuration is available directly in-game through mod menu (requires Mod Menu by Prospector for Fabric). On older Minecraft versions, installation of Forge Config Screens may also be required.
For manual configuration using a text editor, configuration files are located in the .minecraft/config folder and named MOD_ID-client.toml, MOD_ID-common.toml, or MOD_ID-server.toml depending on configuration type. Not all file types may be present for a specific mod.
