Climatic Biomes
A Completely New Approach to Biome Generation
Climatic Biomes fundamentally changes the principle of biome distribution in Minecraft, replacing the standard noise map system with a semi-realistic climate model. Instead of chaotic biome placement, you get a logically organized world with smooth transitions from hot to cold and from dry to wet zones.
Two World Types to Choose From
Climatic Vanilla
Uses the original Minecraft terrain generation but with improved biome distribution according to the climate model.
Climatic Realistic
Completely redesigned generation creating realistic continents with large rivers and convincing topography. This is essentially a "Cliffs" update for version 1.12.2.
Important: If you use other world generator mods, stay on version 2.14.17 or earlier. Newer versions are incompatible with third-party generators.
Features and Compatibility
The mod adds 29 unique biomes (including variations) that organically fit the vanilla Minecraft style. Most of them can be disabled through settings as desired.
Integration with popular mods is supported:
- Biome O'Plenty
- Traverse
- NovamTerram
- Auxiliary Biomes
- Environs++
- Project Vibrant Journeys
- Biomes You'll Go
- Thaumcraft
- Vampirism
- Ice and Fire
For working with Dynamic Trees, a separate compatibility mod is required.
Technical Details
The system uses attractor points that create influence fields (heat, cold, humidity, dryness), forming large-scale climate zones. The addition of fractal noise prevents excessive landscape smoothness.
The world is divided into continental zones of 4096×4096 blocks, each with its own climate map. This ensures the presence of large oceans - perfect for mods that add ships.
