Classic Bad Omen
Modification Description
Starting from Minecraft version 1.21, players no longer receive the Bad Omen effect immediately after defeating an illager captain. Instead, they drop an Ominous Potion that must be consumed to activate the effect. While this change adds depth to gameplay, from a lore perspective it seems somewhat illogical - it implies that illagers need your consent to raid a village. This datapack restores the classic mechanic where the Bad Omen effect activates instantly after eliminating an illager captain.
Installation
To install the datapack, follow these steps:
- Navigate to your game saves folder. On Windows systems, the path looks like this:
C:\Users(your name)\AppData\Roaming.minecraft\saves
Place the datapack file (.zip format) in the datapacks folder, then in-game execute the command /reload. An alternative option is to manually reload the world.
Removal
- Load the world where this datapack was installed
- Enter the command:
/function uninstall:classic_bad_omen
Important Features
- Ominous Potions can still be found and used in trial vaults
- If you cannot stack two or more Ominous Banners or Ominous Bottles, drop them on the ground and pick them up after the items merge together
