Change of Cart - Minecart Improvements in Minecraft

This mod offers two main ways to make minecart rides more comfortable and efficient, eliminating annoying shortcomings of the standard mechanics.

Noise Reduction

You can now reduce the volume of minecart movement using two different methods:

• By pressing Shift and clicking on a minecart with honeycomb in hand, you apply wax that absorbs sound
• Placing rails on sound-absorbing blocks such as wool also significantly reduces movement noise

Friction Reduction

When a minecart moves over blocks like gravel, there is now less friction. This allows saving on the use of powered rails.

• The idea is partially borrowed from real railway technologies with ballast layers under the tracks

Additionally, waxing a minecart can further reduce friction, although this feature is disabled by default in the settings.

Settings

Client Parameters

• Ability to muffle minecarts with wax (default: enabled)
• Noise reduction when moving on soft blocks (default: enabled)
• Maximum minecart volume: 0.75 (standard volume)
• Noise reduction percentage for muffled minecarts: 80%
• Complete silence for waxed minecarts on sound-absorbing blocks (default: disabled)
• Noise reduction multiplier for passenger of muffled minecart: 1.0 (disabled)
• General silence multiplier for all minecart passengers: 0.8 (20% noise reduction)

Common Parameters

The following parameters are set as integers from 1 to 10 (0 disables the function):

• Friction reduction multiplier for rails on special foundation
• Friction reduction multiplier for waxed minecarts
• If the sum of two multipliers equals or exceeds 10, maximum friction reduction is achieved

Block Tags

Two block tags are available that can be modified via datapacks:

• change_of_cart:minecart_mufflers - blocks that absorb minecart sound (by default includes all types of wool)
• change_of_cart:rail_bedding - blocks that reduce friction (by default includes gravel)
