Cats on Head

Have you ever dreamed of having your tamed cat accompany you everywhere? The Cats on Head Fabric mod turns this fantasy into reality! This unique modification completely changes how you interact with tamed cats in Minecraft, offering numerous improvements and new features.

✨ Main Features

The mod allows you to place tamed cats on your head and includes many improvements:

• Cats become equippable items
• Cat leveling system using fish
• Enhanced morning gifts from pets

Important: The mod doesn't work with custom cat types and their variations.

🎁 Turning Cats into Items

In the base game, when an owner hits a cat, it disappears, leaving behind string. With this mod, the situation changes dramatically! Now your tamed* cat turns into an item with a single hit from its owner.

Note: Baby cats cannot turn into items.

When hovering over the cat item, you can see all information about your pet. These items never disappear on their own, and only their owner can pick them up.

🐱 Equipping Cat on Head

Once you have your cat as an item, you can wear it on your head to receive the Love of the Cat effect. Cats use a special slot designated for them, allowing you to wear both helmets and cats simultaneously.

When a cat is on your head, creepers run away and will never attack you unless provoked.

❤️ "Love of the Cat" Effect

This unique status appears when you place a cat on your head. The effect can be upgraded by feeding your cat cooked cod or cooked salmon when it's at maximum health.

The cat's level matches the Love of the Cat effect level and depends on the amount of fish fed. Every 64 fish increases the level. Maximum level is 5.

Level 1 (0+ fish):

• +4 melee damage

Level 2 (64+ fish):

• All effects from level 1
• 100% underwater movement speed

Level 3 (128+ fish):

• All effects from level 2
• Jump boost
• Immunity to fall damage

Level 4 (192+ fish):

• All effects from level 3
• 60% damage protection

Level 5 (256+ fish):

• All effects from level 4
• 50% more luck when fishing
• Elimination ability unlocked - see Fatal Poison below

☠️ Fatal Poison

Fatal Poison is an effect activated by feeding raw cod, raw salmon, cooked cod, and cooked salmon to hostile mobs. This permanent effect kills mobs unlike regular poisoning. You gain this ability at Love of the Cat level 5.

To poison a mob requires 2 fish, and the effect can be enhanced with 2 additional fish.

😴 Sleeping with Cat

If you sleep with a cat on your head, your pet will get off and sleep next to you.

When the cat's level is above 1, morning gifts change depending on the level. The chance of receiving a gift increases by 15% for each level above 1. At level 3 and above, morning gifts are guaranteed.

🎨 Custom Cat Variants

Starting with version 2.0.0, custom cat variant support was added, and the mod itself takes advantage of this feature, offering "Niko" and "Abigail" variants.

The item model cat_item can be overridden (using a resource pack) to add more variants. It's located at assets/cats_on_head/items/cat_item.json.
