Buoyant - Realistic Item Buoyancy
In standard Minecraft, absolutely all items float on the water surface - even massive gold blocks weighing 21 tons! The Buoyant mod completely changes this unrealistic mechanic by introducing a system of realistic buoyancy where different items behave differently in water.
Buoyancy Types
The mod adds five categories of buoyancy, ranging from the lightest to the heaviest:
Super Buoyant Items - objects containing air inside, such as glass bottles
Buoyant Items - materials that naturally float on water, like wood
Neutral Items - sink at normal speed but don't float back up (bricks and most standard objects)
Dense Items - sink quickly and don't float, like gold blocks
Super Dense Items - rapidly sink to the bottom (bedrock and other unobtainable materials)
If you want to change the buoyancy of any item from other mods or the vanilla version, you can configure this through a datapack or propose changes through the Pull Request system.
