Block Blocker
Throughout Minecraft modding history, there have been numerous situations requiring mechanisms to restrict the breaking or placement of specific blocks in the game world. This mod provides server administrators with the ability to configure a list of blocks that cannot be destroyed or placed.
Practical Applications
Consider several usage examples:
Crash Prevention: In some versions of the Ice and Fire mod, there's a "pixie house" structure that generates in the world. Attempting to break it causes both client and server crashes. To prevent this, simply add this block's identifier to the configuration and restart the server - now no one can break the dangerous block.
Hard Mode Enhancement: If you're creating a hard mode modpack and want to add extra difficulty, you can prohibit breaking common blocks like stone, gravel, or sand, making them indestructible like bedrock.
Building Control: Why stop there? You might want to restrict the use of certain blocks for construction. For example, prohibit building dirt towers or placing lava sources. Simply add the corresponding identifiers to the configuration section responsible for blocking placement.
Operational Features
The mod doesn't require installation on the client side but can work there as well, which is particularly convenient for local networks and games via Hamachi.
On first launch, an example configuration file blockblocker.cfg is generated, which can be immediately populated with the blocks you want to restrict for placement and harvesting.
Important Notes
Limitations: The mod does not block fluid placement. For this purpose, there's an excellent separate mod called No Lava Bucketing.
Technical Details: None of the versions support working with tile entities or NBT data. The possibility of adding this functionality is being considered, but implementation timelines are not defined.
Modpack Usage
The mod can be freely included in any modpacks without additional permissions. A link back to the original page is not required but would be a nice gesture.
