Birddie's Scarecrow

This modification was developed as part of Mod Jam 2023 for The 1.12 Modding Coalition Discord community by a single developer in 35 days.

The mod introduces a new mob to Minecraft - the scarecrow. This is a rare but very powerful enemy, so it's recommended to have at least full iron armor, or preferably diamond armor, to fight it.

In most cases, you'll encounter an inanimate scarecrow simply standing guard in a plains biome. However, sometimes this seemingly harmless creature can suddenly come to life and attack. It can run towards its target with incredible speed and deal significant damage. If you manage to defeat this opponent, you can acquire its scythe - a weapon with stats similar to a diamond sword, with a high chance of beheading mobs and players.

Initially, all scarecrows spawn in an inanimate state, but during the night they have a small chance to transform into living creatures. Mandatory transformation occurs at midnight during a full moon or at midnight on Halloween.

All mod parameters are fully configurable: spawn rate, loot drop chances, beheading probability, and other settings can be adjusted according to your preferences.
