Better-Shields
Attention: This is a Forge modification and is not compatible with Fabric without additional porting.
Better-Shields is a compact Vanilla+ addition that expands the capabilities of standard shields in Minecraft. The mod introduces new types of shields made from iron, gold, diamonds, and netherite, and also changes the basic protection parameters of the regular shield.
Main Features
- New shield types: iron, gold, diamond, and netherite (for versions 1.16.3+)
- Customizable protection: each shield has its own damage absorption level
- Thorns enchantment: starting from version 1.1 for Minecraft 1.14.4, shields can be enchanted with Thorns (option can be disabled in configuration)
- Netherite shield features: complete lava protection
Default Protection Levels
- Regular shield: 75%
- Iron shield: 90%
- Gold shield: 85%
- Diamond shield: 100% (1.14.4) / 98% (1.16.3)
- Netherite shield: 100%
All protection parameters can be changed in the mod's configuration file. The Thorns enchantment works even when the shield is not used for blocking, but does not apply to deflected projectiles.
Crafting
Improved shields are crafted from a regular shield and three units of the corresponding material.
